The Mini Cooper is characterized by a retro British style with up-to-date BMW design and functionality. It has extremely fuel efficient, a fun ride, and comes with free maintenance for 3 years. The 2008 model still has it's compact dimensions, excellent maneuvering capabilities, and modern interior. Sales of the new Mini have been skyrocketing since its release in 2002, and it has been hailed as a cultural icon.
Even though it's re-release of the MINI has been a smash hit, BMW did not stop there. It redesigned the MINI hatchback last year to improve weak areas. The latest build rides more comfortably than ever and has improved performance.
The 2008 Mini Cooper comes in both hatchback and convertible body styles. You can get either body with the Cooper S engine, which comes equipped with a turbocharger and puts out 172 horsepower. The Cooper S comes with 16-inch wheels, while the standard hatchback comes with 15-inch alloys. All models have full power windows, air conditioning, leather interiors, and a trip computer. The convertible Minis come with a power-soft top roof, and rear parking sensors. All models come with a standard six speed manual transmission, with an optional six speed automatic with manual power shifting.
During performance tests, the MINI Cooper S went from 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. The base coupe can do the same run in 8.5 seconds. Fuel economy is rated at 28 miles per gallon in city driving and 37 miles per gallon for freeway driving. The Cooper S rates at 26 and 34, respectively.
There are a ton of options available with the MINI, including xenon headlights, interior color schemes, heated seats, Bluetooth, navigation system, HD radio, rain-sensing wipers, satellite radio, and iPod connectivity.
Standard safety features include anti-lock disc brakes and side airbags. The Cooper S comes with traction control and the hatchback comes with standard side curtain airbags. The MINI is very spacious and even drivers taller than 6ft will feel comfortable, as the wheel telescopes to different lengths. Furthermore, the rear seats fold down individually.
